上个月20日，研究人员宣布在菲律宾最大岛屿吕宋岛新发现7个鼠类物种。根据细胞形态学和遗传学数据，这7种鼠将归类于菲律宾家鼠属中的同一个新亚属。
与普通老鼠相比，菲律宾新发现的几种鼠体型更大，每只体重接近230克，尾巴的长度接近甚至长于身体和头部的总长。
一些菲律宾政府官员和研究人员呼吁加强保护森林生态环境，防止人类伐木、农业扩张和非法采矿活动破坏这些动物的栖息地。
致力于保护全球生物多样性的“保护国际”菲律宾分支机构官员罗密欧·特罗诺说：“尽管体型小，这些小动物是我们生物多样性的组成部分，而生物多样性是健康生态系统的基础。”

New mouse in the house: Brazil unveils species
A new species of mouse has been discovered in Brazil, the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation announced Tuesday.
The Cerradomys goytaca (or Goytaca mouse) was located in the Restinga de Jerutiba National Park in Rio de Janeiro state, the institute said, noting the scientific name was selected by researchers at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.
The name of the mostly tree-dwelling rodent comes from that of a local indigenous people, the Goytacazes, the institute said.
